There are quite a few of these large Banyans offering welcome shade.
I have never seen this before. It is one of a number of models in brass of various buildings together with information in Braille so that blind people get a virtual tour.
All the pigeons sitting on this sculpture reminded me of the old story about the statues of Adam and Eve.
One aspect of the cathedral. It is so built around that it is hard to take in without looking at a plan.
Part of the old river bed, turned into a park after the river was diverted.
They've got this right!
Paella time! Mary doesn't want one apparently.
The central market is food heaven, I don't know why we can't have these in the UK
They sold tee shirts!
Once again it looks amazing Chris. I saw you comment on GB Riders about encouraging you to continue. I'm surprised if you need any encouragement - I only wish I was adventurous and confident enough to set out on my own like this. Did you get caught in any of the thunder storms I saw forecast for Eastern Spain? It doesn't look it :)
ReplyDeleteDave, like Nike says "Just do it!" I have missed the thunderstorms I am happy to say - although forecast temperatures on my route (in the hills near Jaen tomorrow) suggest I might welcome a bit of cooling rain, however, I wanted sun and heat so I m not complaining.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the food markets, even though I can't cook.Must be great to get a snack though. I did see them in Barcelona and the colour and smells are really intoxicating. I bought a fruit juice from one of the stores and it was so tasty and refreshing. Why not in the UK?" Probably too much regulation to make it cost effective.
ReplyDeleteI have been to Spain, back in 2001. I was being made redundant and instead of hanging round the office for the last week I took the ferry to Santander, then headed roughly for the Portuguese border, tracked that south, then through Cadiz to Gibralter. Then off North, via the Ronda village that all the journos use to test the new bikes, then up to Zaragoza, cross the mountains through Andorra, then home via Calais and the tunnel. All done in 5 days and my big regret is I didn't stop and take in some of the towns I passed, just as you are doing.
Loved the story of the Can Am rider, despite it all he still wants to ride. Valencia looks stunning, and I fancy one of those tee shirts.
Have a rest Chris, looking forward to tracking more of your progress.
Jim, I plan to stay in Ronda tonight - looking forward to the roads there!
