If I had any more space on my bike, I would buy a bird book. Sitting here on the shaded terrace of this great hotel, with a cold beer in front of me, my attention is actually directed toward the sky where countless swallows, swifts and the odd raptor wheel above me. There are also several species I don't recognise at all. The swifts are just that - very swift and the way they change direction suggests that my Garmin must have believed me to be one of their number.
From my eyrie, I can see gentle rolling farmland below. It looks like possible cereal crops from here although I could easily be mistaken. I am pretty sure though that this morning, on my way to Vejer, I passed some rice paddies, although there was no rice in evidence. I believe it is grown somewhere around here.

In fact, the main irrigated land cultivation in Vejer de la Frontera, is rice. ;-)
