Riding to Ronda
The back roads of Spain are great. Traffic is light to non-existent and there is usually great countryside to see. The drawback for a solo traveller is that should he require any assistance, help may be a long time coming - especially in the absence of a mobile phone signal. I was always conscious of this whenever I turned on to the mountain roads but took comfort from the fact that my Yellowbrick satellite tracker could send text messages even in the absence of a phone signal. Most of all, I was very careful to avoid situations where there was any possibility of dropping the bike. This meant however, passing up a lot of great photo opportunities in spots where parking the bike was difficult - typically a steeply sloping gravelled area at the side of the road where my boots couldn't get a proper grip. It was doubly annoying on these occasions when the helmetcam refused to work properly. However, I do have some footage of nice back roads as in this area of Andalucía, for example.

My kind of road Chris.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great places and such a marvelous music! I think you should write out the title of songs that you use in your vimeo films. ;) There are a lot of these kind of roads in Spain: it is very uncomfortable to drive a car, in contrast, it is really fascinating to drive a motorbike. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Juan David. Yes, Spain is made for motorbikes!
DeleteNo more videos then Chris?
ReplyDeletePaul, there is probably material for one more but unfortunately, the problems with the camera mean that quite a lot of the footage I have is unusable. As well as simply not recording - which I could spot at the time, the camera had a problem whereby it seemed to skip and halt at various points with one image overlaying part of another. This I only saw when I came to edit the stuff.
DeleteI sent the camera back to Dogcam, the company from whom I bought it and even though it was out of warranty (although not by much), they replaced the camera (which is on a cable, the recorder is OK) as there was apparently a known problem with the unit. Hopefully then it will work in the future!
I agree with Paul Chamberlain.
ReplyDeleteJuan David,
DeleteGracias pero mira a mi respuesta a Paul. Por desgracia, no hay mucho más video de una buena calidad.
